Ayabie Concert in LA

So this will be my live report on Ayabie at Safari Sam's in Los Angeles n_______n
[it'll be alittle different from everyone else's.. bear with me, i already know its going to be confusing... I'm not an English major, so its gonna be mixed up! Hope you guys understand somewhat!]

So I get to LA at around 11 am or so, leaving my house at 9 am. TOOK SO LONG BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC. but thats not important.
Anyways, so I met up with "Hentai Tenshi", a reporter I translate for for JPopExpress.com. We get ready at her hotel room while entertaining her son and discussing some important things. SO. We take off to the venue at 1:30, since we thought it'd be nice to chat with some people who are waiting in line, until our appointment.... I didn't talk to anyone. I just kinda kept to myself and smoked.
Well, the band arrived in a Taxi-Van, I thought at first that it was a pretty big group of girls that took the taxi, until I remembered someone telling me that they're taking a taxi to the venue. Once they got out of the van, lots of people go rushing to take pictures and whatnot, and the manager/boss/company owner or director or whoever it was, yelled at everyone to not take pictures. Half the people listened, so the assistant translator girl was going up to people asking not to take pictures, saying the show will be canceled if they continued to take photos. I'm pretty sure a lot of people hated on the staff for not letting them take pictures, but it was requested by the band so I'm glad people respected their wishes- even if they didn't know.
So some more waiting basking in the lovely sun, until Aoi, Intetsu, and I think Yumehito walk out to go to the almighty 99cent store across the parking lot. It was pretty silly seeing fans follow them into the store, but I would've done the same thing if I was with a group of people too. Not too long after that, Takehito came out for a smoke, and he noticed me smoking too so we had a death match of who can smoke faster. Except it was just me staring at him, trying to inhale cancer into my lungs faster than him. He won. I think its just because hes a true Japanese. Japanese-Americans can't win in my smoking competition, apparently.
Anyways, so finally 3 o'clock rolls around and Hen-san, Chibi, and I are let in only to find that the venue is not air conditioned. AT ALL. The shade was nice, but it was still humid and hot. Well, first thing I notice was a couch in the middle of the venue. No one on it. But then I discover the stage has a nice cool breeze, blowing at it so I was clutching to the amps on the stage, trying to cool off.

Well, so Hen-san, Chibi, and I got to interview the band- [I was the translator, and Chibi is Hen-san's son.] well, actually: Takehito and Yumehito. I must say, though. Yumehito looks so different without makeup. I was so amazed. I couldn't stop staring at his clothes. Black track-like-jacket, polka-dot dress-thing, a star necklace, and... well, I wasn't looking at his pants, actually. Or his shoes. But I got to take a picture. Sadly it was requested by Yumehito as he and Chibi took a picture together. Kids are so lucky.
Well, he was kind enough to let us talk to him some more after the interview, except Hen-san and I really didn't know what to do, because I wasn't there for socializing with the band, although it would be SO NICE, I was there for "professional" business. Well, we decided to leave, since we were in the way, and really did not want to leave a bad impression on Hen-san or myself, looking like our main focus was to "befriend the band". I did miss the sweet sweet fan that was sitting on the amp. I was actually blocking it from Yumehito and Intetsu as they lounged around on the sofa in the middle of the venue, so I jumped away every so often so they get some wind and blocked it again. Before we left, we said our goodbyes to the band and thanked them for their time and such, got a free handshake [they were being sold for $20 at the merch table for the signing in the end or something... HAHAHA], told Yumehito good luck, and got a response from Kenzo. He did the "thank you" bow, and gave a little smirk when I looked at him.

Well, so we waited outside with everyone else for.... 3 hours or so. Baking. In the summer sun. IT WAS WONDERFUL. Met several people, only remember three names out of three people I met. THATS GOOD. Sitting around waiting isn't that interesting, I refused to take a picture of myself because I know my face was disgustingly glossy from the heat and I probably looked like a panda from my eyeliner getting smudged and melting and whatnot. There were so many people dressed in the "j-rock fashion" that it gave me a headache. I felt so stupid for wearing the most retarded outfit. APPLE SHIRT FROM URBAN OUTFITTERS AND A OVERALL SKIRT FROM SOME OUTLET STORE IN HARAJUKU. Skirt was a hand-me-down. For one, I was amazed with everyone who wore black. I was dying from wearing white, green, and gray. You, whoever wore them black clothes, will possibly survive the heat in Japan. I will not. I'm moving in with Santa. Winter forever for me, please.
So at around 6, the staff asks us to back up, it took a while for everyone to do so, but we did. Then somehow the line moved forward again and 30 minutes later I heard someone yell "move back!" again. I don't remember if anyone ever did move the second time, but apparently there was no need because 45 minutes or so after that, they started letting people in. I got in under the guest list, so I basically spent $25 just for a receipt. Thats ok, I got it signed.

So the venue is small, like.... cute small. The stage was small, the balconies had tables, and the pit was 1/5 of the way full when I got in. Hen-san bought some merch to meet the band, again. Not to be rude, but I didn't care for meeting the band since I did chat with Yumehito and Takehito alittle before the show, and so I figured I'd just enjoy the show and that was it. Well, the area I was standing in was RIGHT behind to the roadie, next to a Safari Sam's staff member. When the show started and they were playing music, I could feel an awkward stare coming from the Safari Sam's staff person, so I was just kinda bopping my head to the music. [Also, I was sweating like crazy from the heat so I didn't want to move around that much. Again, I'm amazed at how people could stand to be in the pit. You guys won my heart. I don't know who cares, though.] Yumehito was excited to see Chibi in the crowd, since they had some awkward Pokemon and Final Fantasy bonding after the interview, so he kept glancing in the direction I was standing in- but of course he was looking at Chibi. [I failed to catch his attention because I would wave or peace-sign right when he turns around. Bad timing?]

Sadly, I'm not a big big Ayabie fan so I was only able to recognize one song in the lineup, which was "TheMe". But watching Aoi and his little furitsuke made me giggle, wondering if he actually thinks up furitsuke for each song to dance to at shows. So cute watching Takehito, Intetsu, Aoi, and Yumehito doing little synchronized... 180degrees jumps. Then. I noticed how skinny Yumehito was by noticing his clothes. Does this poor boy eat!? He also changed into his Courtney Love/Kurt Cobain shirt with a brown jacket [WHAT. DOES THIS KID NOT KNOW WHAT HEAT IS?] and his star necklace turned into a glow-stick necklace. [I actually had one too, except i didn't attach the necklace part to it and stuck the glowstick in my mouth so my teeth were glowing.] Speaking of outfits, HOLY HELL. Aoi's blue/green pants were tighter than mine will ever be on me, and his daringly bright yellow shoes were hard to stop looking at. His shirt looked like something you would find at Goodwill or your parents closet, covered with a vest. I couldn't see what Intetsu, Takehito, or Kenzo were wearing because they were either too far or hidden.

After the encore, I got to touch Aoi, Yumehito, and Intetsu's hand! I called them all over with my charmingly nasal voice like a siren and kinda grabbed at their hand when they reached out. Yumehito was kind enough to look for the poster that was getting crushed on stage when I pointed it out, but Aoi got to it right when I pointed so I felt bad for making Yumehito look for nothing. And in return I asked for his guitar pick. He's too kind, he tossed it to me. I should bake him a cake for my selfishness.

After the show was the signing, and they decided to move it outside because it was so hot inside. Hen-san, Chibi, 2 new people Hen-san befriended on the street, and I hung out inside while people stood in line for the signing. Chibi and Hen-san's friend's daughter were both searching the ground for items people dropped, and they found a signing ticket! Since Hen-san's friend took off before the signing, I got the ticket so I'm kinda a cheat in the way that I didn't buy anything and got to get an autograph from them. Its ok guys, you can hate on me for my good luck. So anyways, while we're walking to the end of the line for the signing, I saw the girl that was behind us in line to get into the venue, and she let us cut behind her- if I get Yumehito to say his last name for her. IT WAS A GOOD DEAL. Chatted a little with the person who got their posted stepped on by the band members [so worth it. I'd let them step on my phone, since its a piece of shit.] and then got to meet the band! Again! Kinda! Yumehito remembered me, and I got the guitar pick signed along with my "Bring the Credit Card"/"10 Free Downloads" ticket receipt I printed out that I didn't use- since i got in as a guest! [insert annoying braggy laugh here] Kenzo wasn't like what I imagined, he had a small smile on his face when I asked him to sign my ticket, but since I didn't say anything else to him, he moved me along to Aoi, who was next. I told him his dog is adorable and he got all gushy faced [probably from remembering Shiratama... awww...] and said "Yes he is, thank you!" as I moved along to Takehito. Who also remembered me. So nice to be remembered, even for one night. So he signed my ticket and a drawing he laughed at once I showed it to him. It was so nice and refreshing outside the venue after the show, sadly I was all sticky and gross from sweating in the heat.

Of course, I have no photos from the show, but

The signed Yumehito guitar pick ^________^ My luck was too amazing today, Hen-san's tarot reading was right!
I would post pictures of my signed ticket, but it has my name on it, and kinda my credit card number- and Intetsu signed right over it so I can't exactly blur out my info. It'll just be for my enjoyment.

Ayabie wins a special spot in my heart because Yumehito was such an awesome person. I'm so glad I got to hang out with him, even if it was a short amount of time. Takehito actually looked like his face was swollen, like he got his wisdom teeth removed or something. But according to Hen-san he looks like that? Chipmunk cheeks?

What should I do with the pick? Frame it? Its so tiny, I don't want to lose it!

.........I need a j-rock wall in my room. Fuck trying to be artsy. My room is gonna look so weird with my Taste of Chaos signed Mucc poster next to a ticket receipt from Safari Sam's with signatures all over it.... I must blend in an Ayabie poster of some sort or just some photosets from magazines or something.

I don't blame you.

Thanks to whoever read this, you won a spot in my heart. Right next to Ayabie.

I'm sad there were no live reports from Baltimore.

PS- Krashie, I love you! The interview went so well that Yumehito pulled me over to the side to translate for him. I'M USEFUL!

Ah man.. my friend and I really should have gone earlier! The 99 cent store part sounds epic XDD

"Again, I'm amazed at how people could stand to be in the pit."
I think it was actually pretty calm in my opinion ^^ People started to push near the end but it still wasn't that bad, compared to ToC at least. Were you in the pit at ToC? :O I got squished into a pulp in there D:

Anyways, seems like you had a lot more fun than we did XD Thank you very much for sharing your experience. It was fun to read :D
Jun. 20th, 2008 06:22 pm (UTC)
I was actually on the side, somewhat near the pit... If you were there for the Idiot Pilot show, I was in the area the vocal guy jumped out on. That was probably the worst it got with the pushing and stuff, when everyone was trying to get away from him.
Jun. 20th, 2008 08:21 pm (UTC)
LOL xD I don't remember anything like that though, a lot of what happened is a blur @_@
I was dead center, row 3-4 in the pit. View was pretty good but being squished to the point where I couldn't even breath, I dunno, not sure if it was worth it XD
Jun. 21st, 2008 01:31 am (UTC)
Wow, you're so lucky to get so close Q o Q but the thought of lots of gross sweaty people pushing against me would make me not want to fight for the front... kinda why I stick to the sides. Sadly you can't see the whole band though :/
Jun. 21st, 2008 02:32 am (UTC)
It was only because of some moshers actually. I was way in the back at first. The moshers were right next to me and started shoving and doing their thing. Nobody seemed interested so everyone moved outta the way and created a HUGE circle for them to run around in XD Do you remember when that happened? :) When the opportunity came up, I dashed across the circle to the front :DD

Ah, sweaty people suck.. but thank god most(?) of them use deodorant. Being rubbed against a sweaty and horrifyingly smelly person is even worse DX
Jun. 21st, 2008 03:21 am (UTC)
HAHA. Something like that happened, except I was kinda pulled towards the front center of the stage because of the flow of the moshers.
The circle pit..? who was playing when that happened?

ahhhaaa... i was unlucky and got stuck around people who didn't, and i was dying from the smell.
Jun. 20th, 2008 02:52 pm (UTC)
Nice report. I missed the concert sadly. Maybe you should frame the pick. I would say make a necklace but its autoghraphed.
Jun. 20th, 2008 06:33 pm (UTC)
ooh actually thats a good idea! I'll see if I can get some special coating on it so the autograph doesn't get rubbed off! [nail polish, maybe? but I have a feeling it might chip off or something]
Jun. 20th, 2008 11:12 pm (UTC)
Clear nail polish right? I think it might chip off too.SOme people make really nice neclaces out of picks
Jun. 21st, 2008 01:26 am (UTC)
I'll have to find some way.. I don't want to seal it with some plastic thing since it'll look weird and probably peel off at some point. difficult dilemma :I

Not too long after that, Takehito came out for a smoke, and he noticed me smoking too so we had a death match of who can smoke faster. Except it was just me staring at him, trying to inhale cancer into my lungs faster than him. He won. I think its just because hes a true Japanese. thanks for the report!!!!

XD Glad it made you laugh! Thanks for the comment!
Jun. 20th, 2008 03:59 pm (UTC)
oooh! I felt so excited reading the report! hahaha. sounds like you had a good time! [and a lot of luck too!!]
Jun. 20th, 2008 04:01 pm (UTC)
Thanks for the report! I enjoyed it X3
Jun. 20th, 2008 05:40 pm (UTC)
They went to the 99 cent store? ._. I completely missed this because I was lined up around the corner T_T
Jun. 20th, 2008 06:04 pm (UTC)
Wow, you really are ridiculously lucky haha.
Yeah the pit wasn't too bad except a couple times I got pushed almost to the floor.

They played so many songs, almost all of my favorites, it was awesome! They must have been so tired too.
Last night.. I think Intetsu won a special place in my heart~ He's just awesomely cute.
Jun. 20th, 2008 06:33 pm (UTC)
oh man~! that was such an awesome con report.

I was very amazed that you got to interview them...or wells, just Yumehito.

I went to the live in NY and probably got off lucky because no staff member yelled, "No pictures or concert will be canceled".

Thanks to your report, I think Yume is winning a bit more of my heart which is sad because of them all, he holds the most of it already.

LOL @ the smoking "contest" you and Takehito had.

How old was Chibi between? :)
Jun. 20th, 2008 06:39 pm (UTC)
Chibi is 10 years old; I'm so jealous of him... >__< I wanted a picture taken with Yumehito! XD

Before the show started, Emily [the coordinator] went on stage and announced that if they see any flashes from cameras, the band members will put their stuff down and walk off stage; and if they catch anyone sneaking pictures, they'll be escorted out or something. Pretty harsh, since we're all natural paparazzi.
Jun. 20th, 2008 08:26 pm (UTC)
Wait, is Chibi that little blond kid in the yellow t-shirt? XD

When my friend and I came (late D:), the staff outside was dealing with a poor girl who got kicked out for taking pictures. It's sad, really. I think it was only about 8 min into the concert too.
Jun. 21st, 2008 01:24 am (UTC)
no, he was wearing a black long sleeved shirt with blond/red hair.

Thats sucks for her :/ but she did get a fair warning. It'd be better if they just took the camera away and gave it back after the show or something... :C
Jun. 21st, 2008 05:36 am (UTC)
nice Live Report! Chibi is STILL talking about Yumehito-san, and wants to know when he can email him to play DS together LOL XD I don't know what to tell him haha

Well, next year when they come back, we have to interview them again, that way Chibi can bring his DS and play games with Yume-san! X3
Jun. 21st, 2008 07:04 am (UTC)
Thank you~ ^0^/ Glad you approve :> I didn't want to talk too much about the whole business so the report got all wonky in the middle >__<;; lol and I accidentally left Intetsu out of the signing thing.. Q n Q;;;;

I would love to interview them again! It was so much fun and I thank you so much for the experience! n__n I hope we get the interview with LM.C too, that would be so exciting!
Jun. 21st, 2008 09:43 pm (UTC)
LOL Yeah, you did good XD I can't talk much about it either and its driving me nuts cuz I want to tell everyone! LOL

But, we are professionals now, ne? hehe =3

Still working on LM.C! Chibi won't be with us then tho, so it may not be as fun as Ayabie-san was :/
Jun. 22nd, 2008 01:53 am (UTC)
Lucky you, with Yumehito's pick. ^_^
You can stick the ticket receipt on your door maybe? I stick tickets on my door and posters on my walls...Somehow it works.

Good review!~♥
Jun. 25th, 2008 05:47 am (UTC)
